The beginning of a new league. Twelve spots in the world. Twenty five million dollars per spot. Which organizations were going to get a spot? Where was it going to be streamed? These were all questions leading up to the beginning of the first annual Call of Duty League season. Although many of the cities were announced many weeks prior the teams had to practice for hours on end before the start of the season. Major cities like, Atlanta, Chicago, London, and Paris all cities of teams, were preparing for the trip to Minnesota. The Minnesota Rokk’r were the host of the first matches of the season. Each team would play two matches and fight it out for the ten points they would earn from a win. With it being the first matches of the league many aspects of the season were new to the fans including the difficult point system. The point system broken down is when a team wins a match they gain ten points, but when an event with bracket play occurs, the winner of the bracket will receive 50 points to help them with their standings. There are two teams at the current moment that are considered to be juggernauts of the league, the Chicago Huntsmen and the Atlanta Faze. Each bolstering world champions with the looks of Scump, Formal, Simp, and Abezy the match between the two will be one to remember. Although these teams did not play each other at the Minnesota event each team went 2-0 and are sitting at 20 points in the league. With CDL London happening this previous weekend it made a drastic impact on the points system. Atlanta did not attend the event and 50 points went to the winner of bracket play, which ended up being the Chicago Huntsmen. With them winning the event, it places them top of the league and having beaten the Dallas Empire in the final it has fueled a rivalry between the two making it even more important when the Huntsmen face off against the Empire next. The next event is CDL Atlanta arguably one of the most important events of the year. The top two teams in the league will more in likely be facing off, Atlanta and Chicago. The importance of the match will arguably determine the team that will finish in first at the end of the season. You won’t want to miss it, and with the Home series in Chicago coming up in April, it is an event I will definitely plan on attending.
